Were they starring? They were starring.

You shifted your hand over the fleshy bruise encompassing your left eye. It was so embarrassing to even be here. You could handle yourself, you didn't need any damn police officer giving you fake sympathy.

The entirety of the bullpen seemed to be giving you the eye. Hardened criminals were handcuffed to benches, waiting for lawyers to arrive. Witnesses and bail bondsmen chatted with the officers at desks. And here you were, a young woman stranded on a cushy chair, looking like you had been in a bar brawl.

You ignored the curious looks and concentrated on the desk facing you. Not much to look at there. In fact, almost nothing. It was completely spotless, save a manilla folder positioned dead center. A singular black pen was positioned parallel to the document. If you had a ruler on you, which would be incredibly odd or coincidental, you would find everything spaced by exact one inch margins.

The heel clicks of a thick pair of boots gave you some forewarning before a man took a seat across from you. You glared up from your one healthy eye.

When one imagined a cop, the beefy, stereotypical hottie came to mind. Or perhaps the robust lover of doughnuts. The officer here sidestepped both categories. He was short, only a hairsbreadth taller than yourself. He didn't look heroic either. Only incredibly bored.

"So, (Name) (Last). I'm Officer Levi Ackerman, I'll be handling your case." A gentle lock of his undercut fell down over his face as he looked over the mysterious document. "You were involved in a spousal conflict?"

His cloudy eyes trailed over the black eye. Levi had sported quite a few shiners in his day (the majority of them in high school) and he could tell you had been hit hard. The skin was developing shiny purple smudges, and your pretty (Color) iris was reduced to a sliver of color. His blood started to boil. Who would take their anger out on their woman? Buy a punching bag, asshole.

    "You're my abuse counselor?"

    "You're avoiding the question."

    "And you're avoiding my question."

"To be honest, I have no idea what I'm doing." He sighed, closing your file. "Hange, she was supposed to be in today. But, because she's an absolute piece of shit and decided to catch the flu, I have to work her shift. Which is a people person shift. I fucking hate people."

You automatically felt uneasy. First, you were dumbfounded by his bluntness. Were cops aloud to swear in front of civilians? Second, he was in no rush to get you the hell out of here. Third, he held his coffee mug in a claw position, instead of the handle. Maybe that wasn't so untrustworthy, but it was still weird.

"So," He continued. "Who is this guy? Fiance, husband, lover?"

"On and off boyfriend." You looked uncomfortably to the dirty tile floor. "I told them when they took me in, this isn't a problem. He just blows up sometimes. I know you can't hold me if I'm not filing charges."

"Right. But we can hold you if he was arrested for battery of an officer."

"Oh God." You rubbed your temples. "Please tell me he didn't."

"He did. Which means I have full authority over you until everything is sorted out. Follow me, it's time for your examination."

You shuffled your feet as you followed the cop down the hall to a small room that resembled a nurses office. You sat down on yet another awful chair and waited to be poked and prodded.

He placed a small tape recorder on the gleaming white counter. A red light blinked from it's side, signifying the tape was rolling.

"Case B304, (Name) (Last). Massive laceration beneath the eye and bruising surrounding the eye."

You swallowed at how unsettling close he was. You could smell his breath, the faint mint of gum past tickling your nose. His fingers prompted you to pivot your head, revealing more cuts along your cheekbones. He looked concerned, genuinely concerned, and you weren't sure if that made you feel any better.

"Small cuts along both sides of victims face. Ring shaped."

You, as a fully functioning adult woman, would be the first to admit he was attractive. He held this look that could make knees weak, both out of fear and arousal. The tiny uniform fetish you had obtained over the years made him look even better.

The black fabric of the shirt was taught against his chest, and it wasn't from a bullet proof vest either. The small statured man was packing a lot of muscle.

You ignored primordial urges by digging your fingernails into your palm. It was all you could do to not start giggling foolishly and saying a dumb pick up line. Wanna do some under cover work...at my place? My cuffs or your cuffs tonight? Is that a gun in your pocket or...

He did have a gun in his pocket. Holy shit, who was this guy?

Levi, during your thorough eye inspection, was flipping your hands over. Brown edged bruises decorated your knuckles.

"Self defense marks on right hand."

You withdrew your hand, childishly hiding it under your thighs. What was your business was your business, not some Oompa Loompa pretending he held authority.

Levi had half a mind to pry up your thigh to continue examination but decided against it. You two had other things to discuss and it wasn't going to be pretty

"End of examination." He spoke into the tape with his rich voice, snapping it off. "Now, are you aware of the other charges against this asshole?"

"That asshole is my boyfriend, thank you."

"The boyfriend that's been stalking you."

"You're lying to get a confession out of me."

"Not even close." He withdrew a plastic bag from his back pocket, labeled Evidence.

"Hey, that's my phone in there!"

"Wow, you're a fucking Einstein, aren't you?" He rolled his eyes. "We had a warrant to take it from your apartment. And what we found on the battery might just change your mind about your Prince Charming."

He pointed to a black bulge adhered to the back of the phone. You scrunched your forehead, confused. You had never seen it there before.

"It was hidden under your case. Ever hear of the term, Tracking Device?"

"Oh..." You hid your face in your palms, your world crashing down around you. "It makes so much sense. He would know things he shouldn't, who I was with or....that's how he managed to show up wherever I was. That's how he found out where I moved."

"Are you ready to tell us, now?" Levi placed a heavy hand on your shoulder.

You didn't know if he meant it to be comforting, but it was. You sighed and followed him one last time.

***

You sipped your tea slowly to avoid singing your tongue. The night was completely still outside, a warm summer breeze ruffling the treetops. Below you, in the road that stretched in front of the complex, a singular police car was parked. You knew very well who was bored out of his mind in the front seat.

You slipped on a jacket and shoes, padding down the stairs and out the front door. A singular knock on the side window shocked Levi out of his drowsy thoughts. He grimaced at you through the plexiglass before rolling down the window.

"What do you want?" He sighed, turning down the music buzzing on the radio.

"I thought you might want to come inside, Officer."

Over the past week or two, Levi had been ordered to patrol outside your house. The normal case would only require a few days of watching, but your now ex-boyfriend was considered a threat against you. What had happened was you tried to run from your controlling partner, only to have him show up to your ew place and start a fight. You had finally fought for your own honor, only for him to get testy.

Levi despised the night shift, seeing as he was only allowed eat/sleep/leave when you went to work in the morning. Then Officer Hange would just call for updates at the music shop you cashiered at.

"You know that's against protocol, Ms. (Last)."

"I told you, call me (Name)!" You groaned, exasperated. "Don't even try to tell me you always stay within the rules. Hange told me all about you."

"You don't know shit about me." He scoffed, frightened to what exactly his friend had spilled.

"I know just enough this will make you come in. I just made a fresh pot of tea."

You wiggled your tea cup tantalizing close to him. Even if your neighbors saw him, they wouldn't say anything. Ymir and Krista, the girlfriends in the floor below you, were the one's that reported the whole fiasco to the police anyway. They would understand a man in uniform staying over. The other neighbors, well, they would assume a themed stripper. Not the worst thing you could be accused of sneaking into your place past midnight, especially with his looks.

"You can watch TV, too. I have more channels than I can count." You put on your best pouty face. "Doesn't it make more sense to have you right by my front door anyway? I'd feel safer with you there."

Levi rolled his eyes. As much as he dreamed of you inviting him in to your bedroom, his chances of getting laid were slim to none. If anyone found out he'd slept with the civilian he had been assigned to guard, they would fire him so fast his head would spin.

"Fine. I'll stay in for awhile to clear my head. But I'm coming back out here the second you get to sleep, alright?"

"Deal. I'll go get your tea ready." You scurried ahead.

By the time Levi tromped upstairs to your apartment, gear in hand, you had changed into your pajamas. This had done nothing to stave the insatiable attraction he had towards you. You looked adorable, and it made him angry. It was like you were teasing him.

Over the period of time from your first encounter to now, Levi had grown to adore you. Watching over you, he learned a lot about you. You always gave warm smiles goodbye to him, indicating your kindness. Some mornings you even brought breakfast to him (in which he learned you burnt eggs easily).

You were always ready for a laugh and could be downright silly at times. However annoying it was, it was better than the gloomy, reserved (Name) you were while that bastard dated you. You had completely broken it off with him only a day after he'd been fined for his charges. Now you were back to your cheery personality without anyone to drag you down.

You handed him a gigantic mug of tea and gestured to your plush couch. A flannel blanket and a pillow had been set out in his honor.

He feigned disinterest as he plopped down, putting his feet up on the coffee table. You voiced a sweet goodnight before disappearing into your bedroom. He looked forlornly at your closed door.

You could hear the noise of a late night talk show as you drifted off. You weren't lying before, you did feel safer with him by the door.

Your slept soundly for the rest of the night. For the first time in over a year, you felt completely content in your own bed. You woke a few minutes before your alarm clock would shrilly beep, turning off the infernal contraption before it would wake your guest.

You stretched, yawning a little. The hardwood flooring was cold beneath your feet as you padded to the kitchen for some water. You were surprised to find that there was no one sitting on the couch, yet the TV was still on. You got your water, taking a cold gulp before further examining the oddity.

You tilted your head, peering over the top of the couch. A mass of blankets covered the cushions, housing a small lump stretched comfortably out. A policeman's cap was hanging sloppily off the lampshade. You repressed a squeal as you watched with fascination.

Levi was fast asleep, his nose twitching every few minutes.

You bit your lower lip. Your initial realization he was cute had grown since. Now your mental image had escalated to totally gorgeous. Not to mention he was completely sweet. The grumpy officer had even offered to clean your apartment the first day he checked in.

You brushed a little of his ebony hair back from his eyes, reveling in the softness of his skin. You needed to get to work soon but this was too good to miss. He was even cuter when he looked relaxed.

Nearly invisible white lines decorate his pale skin. Scars of conflicts past told the story of his life, a story you hoped you could someday hear. A small voice in the back of your head urged you to make a move, to capture this moment as something special.

You pressed a kiss to his cheek, withdrawing quickly. Levi waking up could forever mark you as a Grade A pervert. You fled the scene and hurried back to your room. Distracting yourself, you hunted down some clothes as your head spun. What had come over you? And why did it feel so good?

Levi, meanwhile, smiled faintly in his sleep. He was having the most wonderful dream of the two of you cuddled up on the couch together. You were planted firmly on his lap where he could always protect you, hold you.

Maybe he would ask you out tonight. What Hange had gossiped was spot on, he really didn't care for rules. And if breaking them meant getting you, well, then he would be as criminal as the people he put away.
I have yet to read a Cop!Levi, so here's this big ole piece of fluff.

There will not be a sequel, but spoiler, they end up together

Debating an alternative Stripper!Cop!Levi AU now. Mm, that'd be nice.

Sorry, i don't believe in this chain message, but I have "overactive imagination". And if I don't do it my mind will make it real and i don't feel like having a Schizophrenic episode tonight.
